What is The P.O.W.E.R. Project?

Preparation, Organization, Wonderment, Empowerment, Resistance--During the month of June 2017, the Art Leaders of Color Network (ALCN) and the Comfort Station have partnered to present the P.O.W.E.R. Project--an ‘empowerment hub’ of lectures, discussions, happenings, self-care exercises, and much more led by artists and members from the community. The vision is that through this series of community-building engagements (via resource/knowledge sharing), people will not only be empowered to lead their own actions but inspire others to take a stand against injustice and intolerance...the only way we can make it through these uncertain times is to do it together.

The P.O.W.E.R. Grant  Fom June 1st through June 30th, all donations collected will support P.O.W.E.R Project programming and raise funds for the P.O.W.E.R. Grant. The P.O.W.E.R. Grant was conceived to build momentum out of the P.O.W.E.R. Project's programming by funding new projects in Chicago that continue its vision. 

There will be a total of three grants: -one grant that is 50% of the fund total -two grants that are each 25% of the fund total Application opens: July 1st//Deadline: August 1st// Notifications: September 1st.

Anyone who directly worked on the P.O.W.E.R. Project--by performing, presenting or organizing an event, or collaborating on a programming team--will be eligible to apply for the grants. *For more information about the P.O.W.E.R.
