10 rockets a day have targeted
Israel’s 5th largest city.
Its mayor cites one urgent need: more mobile bomb shelters.
Now is the time for concrete action!
RIVERDALE LIFELINE TO ISRAEL, a grassroots organization that has united the community at critical periods since 2001, is once again asking for your help. At the urgent request of the mayor of Ashdod, we have launched a campaign to raise funds for the purchase of a mobile bomb shelter. Ashdod is on the frontlines in the latest Middle East conflict—some 200 Hamas rockets have bombarded the city in just a 20-day period. Beleaguered civilians have had only 30 seconds’ warning to take cover; in some sections of the city, there are not enough adequate shelters for men, women and children to turn to.
The portable concrete shelters needed by Ashdod are strong enough to withstand attack but light enough so they can be moved into place near hospitals, schools, playgrounds, or other key locations. The shelters, which can hold up to 30 people, cost $18,000 each.
Donations are tax deductible.
What is Riverdale Lifeline to Israel?
We are a grassroots organization composed of members of the Jewish community in Riverdale, NY, in The Bronx. Since 2001, we have mobilzed Riverdale and its neighboring communities to support critical Israeli services in times of need. Riverdale Lifeline to Israel has completed projects that include:
Purchasing an ambulance for Magen David Adom
Summer camp for children of fallen IDF soldiers
Critical equipment for the Rabin Trauma Center in Tel Aviv
Supplying an emergency medical station and blood bank in Haifa
Renovations for Nehariya's rocket-damaged Western Galilee Hospital
Programming for the Israel Special Kids Fund
Specialized forest-fire fighting equipment for the Northern Galilee Fire Department
How will my donation be spent?
This project is being coordinated with PEF Israel Endowment Funds and the Office of the Mayor of Ashdod. Riverdale Lifeline to Israel, via PEF Israel Endowment Funds, will provide the funds directly to the Office of the Mayor, which will purchase the shelter from an approved vendor.
