Lisa Cohen

I founded the non-profit, 100% volountary organization, BRACHA, after the death of my Mother and my Sister from hereditary breast and ovarian cancers. At the time, in London, we were given no knowledge of genetic testing or of different ways that HBOC can be treated, or of trials that were being conducted. If we had I am sure they would be here with me today. Knowledge saves lives.

When I tested positive for the BRCA mutation, in Israel, I went through the whole journey alone with not only a lack of support from the medical community but anti-support at my choice to lower my risk through surgeries.

I founded BRACHA with the aim that every woman has the right to know about genetic testing, about surveillance and risk reducing surgeries and new ways to treat HBOC cancers and be free to make their own choices. I have created a large successful community in Israel and a home for BRCA mutation carriers. I am very active in the International HBOC community.

BRACHA is the only organization in Israel solely dedicated to raising awareness to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer and to supporting BRCA mutation carriers.

BRACHA is run 100% by volunteers and 100% of donations go to educate the public on genetic testing and ways to lower the risk of getting hereditary cancer and ways of treating hereditary cancers.

BRACHA is a non profit organisation in loving memory of my Mother and Sister may they rest in peace.
