The Hempstead Boys & Girls Club is a beacon of hope and opportunity for young people 6-16 from Hempstead and surrounding areas. With a highly regarded staff of specially trained, committed and caring professionals, the Club offers at a high level the tried and tested positive youth development and afterschool programs and services developed by Boys & Girls Clubs of America

A safe haven, the Club is a learning center providing distinguished after-school activities that enhance learning, reduce school absences and dropout rates, encourage career exploration, and help guide young people to healthy lifestyles and fulfilling futures.  All young people are welcome, and the Club seeks and enjoys a diverse membership and rich cultural environment. 

The Club reflects the community’s commitment to its children—it’s most precious resource.  It is a “go-to” place not only for kids but for those seeking information on the special needs of those it serves. A partner to parents and schools, it is a community leader, supported and advanced by a distinguished board of community and philanthropic leaders from throughout Nassau County. 

For its financial support, the Club—a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization—depends  on generous gifts and grants from individuals and organizations sharing its commitment to young people and the future of Hempstead, the County, region, and nation.  Members pay a nominal membership fee each year, and no child is turned away for inability to pay. 

Note: Until recently the Club benefitted from significant government grants. With the recession and cutbacks at every governmental level, those have all but disappeared severely restricting program development and the involvement of more young people.  The Club can no longer provide services for the elementary aged youth in the community...as the resources are not there to fund this  much needed program.  I am excited about the opportunity to raise money on it's behalf...and I  encourage and invite the support of neighbors and friends, who share our commitment to Hempstead’s future, it’s youth, as they will be called upon to lead and to serve our community in decades to come.
